Professional products Raw materials Vermiculite
Expanded vermiculite for seeding, propagation, and custom mixes.
Arber Vermiculite is a thermally expanded mineral raw material, available in 0–2 mm and 0–4 mm granulometry (particle size). Its lamellar structure retains water and nutrients and releases them gradually to the plant. It is a preferred component in seeding mixes, cutting propagation, and seed covering in plug trays.

Features
Arber Vermiculite is a mineral raw material of micaceous origin. It undergoes a controlled thermal expansion process that develops a light, highly porous lamellar structure. This mineral architecture is the foundation of its ability to retain and release water and nutrients gradually. It also physically protects the root zone during cutting propagation and seed germination.
Available in two particle sizes: 0–2 mm for seed covering in plug trays and ultra-fine seeding mixes; 0–4 mm for propagation mixes and lightening of more compact substrates. Arber Vermiculite is dust-free — professional handling in seedling nurseries and plug tray operations without dispersion. It is 100% natural, free from pathogens and toxic substances, and comes from a European supply chain with an expansion facility in Belgium.
Consistent production and regular deliveries make it a reliable reference for professional nurseries planning cycles at significant volumes.
Why choose it
- Expanded mineral material from Belgium. Stable industrial process.
- 0–2 mm and 0–4 mm particle sizes: high water retention in low volume.
- Water retention up to 400% of dry weight. Reduces irrigation frequency in seeding and propagation.
- Versatile: reduces density in repotting mixes while maintaining drainage, or used pure for ultra-fine seeding.
- 100 L bag: easy dosing in the nursery.
Why use it
Increases water retention
The expanded layers retain water and release it gradually to the plant. It reduces water stress in seeding and propagation mixes.
Improves nutrient availability
High cation exchange capacity: it retains nutrients and releases them to the plant, reducing leaching.
Lightens the substrate
Low dry bulk density: it increases porosity and aeration in the mix. Ideal for propagation substrates and cutting propagation.
Seed covering in plug trays
The 0–2 mm particle size is ideal as a seed covering layer. It protects against dehydration and maintains consistent moisture.
