Professional products Raw materials Black Peat
German black peat, two granulometries and dual pH option.
Arber black peat is a raw material with a high decomposition grade (H6–H8), extracted from deep deposits in German peatlands. It is available in two granulometries — 0–10 mm for seeding and plug trays, 0–20 mm for cultivation and rooting — and in two pH options: standard (natural) or pre-corrected to pH 5.5–6.5 with dolomitic calcareous pH corrector.

Features
Arber black peat differs from Baltic brown peat in its H6–H8 decomposition grade and finer structure. It forms a compact and stable matrix that gives mixes high water retention and good buffering capacity. These characteristics make it the choice for formulators who need a refining component for repotting substrates and specific medium-to-long-cycle pot formulas.
It is available in two granulometries — 0–10 mm for seeding and plug mixes, 0–20 mm for cultivation mixes and the early rooting stage — and in two pH options: standard (naturally acidic) or adjusted (pre-corrected to pH 5.5–6.5 with dolomitic calcareous pH corrector, ready for direct use in cultivation mixes). Selected black peat from German origin: consistently extracted from the same fields, season after season, to ensure quality continuity batch after batch. 30 years of selected supply chain and over 7 million m³ of substrates produced since 1996.
Why choose it
- Baltic and German transitional peat, supply chain consolidated over 30 years.
- Dry bulk density 0.15–0.20 g/cm³: reduces settling in mixes compared to blonde peat and maintains total porosity of 85–90% even after initial compaction.
- Very high water retention: stabilises the moisture level in mixes.
- Refining component for repotting substrates and specific formulas.
- Available in 0–10 mm and 0–20 mm granulometry for different mix profiles.
Why use it
Stabilises moisture levels
H6–H8 decomposition grade and very high retention mean the substrate does not dry out prematurely, even during peak heat periods.
Refining repotting mixes
A fine component that reduces average particle size and moves the mix toward a more moisture-retentive profile.
Integration into existing Pro substrates
Add it to blonde peat-based substrates to adjust the moisture profile for more demanding crops.
Safe granulometry for nursery use
Available in 0–10 mm and 0–20 mm: precise dosing even in the most technical custom mixes.
