Top Soil 2 is developed for urban landscaping projects where the roof build-up imposes structural load limits and requires rapid drainage to protect the waterproofing layer. The formula combines Baltic blonde peat 0–40 mm, pumice 3–8 mm, and volcanic Lapillus 3–5 mm. The high proportion of volcanic inorganic material gives the substrate resistance to compaction over the medium and long term. This is an essential requirement for green roof systems, which must hold their properties for decades without replacement.
The pH 6.5–7.5 suits most perennial herbaceous and shrub species used in green roof planting. The pumice and volcanic Lapillus come from Italian quarries with a consolidated supply chain.
Top Soil 2 is suitable for all green roof systems, from extensive solutions with a shallow layer and ground-cover vegetation to intensive solutions with a deeper layer and shrub planting.
