Orchidee

Leader potting mix for epiphytic orchids — pine bark for natural anchoring and coconut fiber for drainage.

Orchidee is the Leader potting mix designed for Phalaenopsis, Cattleya, and other epiphytic orchids. The blend of pine bark, blonde peat, coconut fiber, and base fertiliser creates an airy, free-draining environment that supports aerial roots and abundant flowering.

Features

Orchidee is the Leader potting mix developed specifically for epiphytic and semi-epiphytic orchids (Phalaenopsis, Cattleya, Dendrobium, Oncidium, Cymbidium). The blend combines pine bark, blonde peat, coconut fiber, and a base fertiliser. It creates a structure that replicates the orchid’s natural habitat on tree branches — with air pockets that prevent root rot.

You use it for the initial potting and for periodic repotting (every 2–3 years) of orchids in containers. Pine bark replaces conventional soil-based substrate and gives roots the grip they seek in nature on tree trunks and branches. Coconut fiber retains the right level of moisture without saturating the mix. Blonde peat contributes to the structural stability of the substrate. The base fertiliser supports flowering in the first months after repotting.

For terrestrial orchids (Cypripedium, Bletilla) and for other plants (foliage plants, succulents, vegetables) choose a specific potting mix — this substrate is optimised for epiphytic orchids. Packed in Italy using pine bark and coconut fiber from a consistent supply chain.

Why choose it

  • Pine bark: porous structure that promotes anchoring and air circulation, reducing the risk of root rot compared to compact substrates.
  • Coconut fiber: controlled moisture retention, no substrate saturation.
  • Airy structure: prevents root rot typical of orchids grown in overly compact substrates.
  • Integrated base fertiliser: supports flowering in the first months after repotting.
  • Designed for Phalaenopsis, Cattleya, Dendrobium, Oncidium, Cymbidium.

Composition

  • blonde peat — structural stability

When to use it

Suitable for the initial potting of newly purchased orchids and for periodic repotting (every 2–3 years). Use it preferably in spring, after the main flowering period, when the plant is in its vegetative phase.

How to use it

  1. Choose a transparent orchid pot (roots photosynthesize) with good drainage holes.
  2. Fill the base with a thin layer of Orchidee. Do not compact it.
  3. Position the plant with aerial roots free — do not bury them in the substrate.
  4. Fill the gaps gently with Orchidee, keeping the crown level with the substrate surface. Do not water immediately.
  5. Wait 7–10 days before the first watering. Then water by submerging the pot every 7–10 days and allow it to drain fully.

Suitable for

Adatto: phalaenopsis, cattleya, dendrobium, oncidium, cymbidium, orchidee epifite

Not recommended for: Terrestrial orchids (Cypripedium, Bletilla), foliage plants, succulents, vegetables — choose a specific potting mix.
