Features

Arber expanded clay is an inert raw material produced by controlled thermal expansion of natural clay. It is a lightweight, stable aggregate with high drainage capacity and strong root-zone aeration. It does not decompose. It does not alter the pH of the substrate. It does not interfere with the fertiliser components of the mix.

You use it as a professional drainage layer at the bottom of pots, as a component in custom mixes for long-cycle plants (cacti, succulents, citrus, Mediterranean species), as a substrate for indoor hydroculture, and as a decorative top-dressing for ornamental pots. The two formats — 10 L Bag for targeted applications, 45 L Bag for nursery volumes — cover the full range of professional needs.

Expanded clay from a consistent supply chain: the same production process, season after season, to ensure quality continuity from batch to batch. 30 years of selected supply chain and over 7 million m³ of substrates produced since 1996.

Why choose it

  • Expanded clay produced by controlled thermal expansion — a lightweight, stable aggregate.
  • It does not decompose: the physical structure remains constant for years.
  • pH 6.5–7.5 and stable structure: it does not alter the substrate profile and maintains drainage properties over time.
  • Compatible with hydroculture, custom mixes, and indoor decorative top-dressing.
  • Available in 10 L Bag (targeted applications) and 45 L Bag (nursery volumes).

Why use it

Lightweight professional drainage

A drainage layer at the bottom of the pot that does not add weight to the outdoor container: high air capacity and low density.

Chemically inert — no profile interference

Neutral pH and stable mineral composition: no interference with fertilisers or additives in the mix.

Hydroculture compatible

The reference substrate for indoor hydroponic cultivation: stable, reusable, and neutral.

Two formats for professional use

10 L Bag for targeted applications and calibrated custom mixes, 45 L Bag for nursery volumes and systematic top-dressing.
